Sven Tiedemann was born in 1962 in Wittstock, Germany.
He became interested in photography at the age of 15, when he began to teach himself photographic and darkroom technique.
Between 1980 and 1993 Tiedemann lived and worked in Berlin.
After receiving his degree in education at Humboldt University and working
as a teacher he directed the photographic department at a large center
for children and youth for seven years.
In 1993 he moved to Wiefelstede, a small town near Oldenburg, Lower Saxony, where he managed an art gallery for four years.
Since 1997 Tiedemann has been working as a freelance photographer
and since 2003 has been teaching photography at the Academy for Communication, Marketing and Media in Bremen.

His first book of photographs, "Vinia", was published in 2001
by Weingarten Publishers.
